2022 September

Colleagues,

We continue to make progress towards implementation of Colorado Online@:

  • We have developed a semester-by-semester schedule for transitioning individual courses to Colorado Online (attached).  Sections have already been allocated to individual colleges for the Spring and Summer semesters, and preliminary section allocations for Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 will be sent to the college VPs next week.
  • The Fall Learning Design Academy launched September 26, supporting development of more than 30 Ready-to-Teach course shells as a resource for faculty and instructors.  See the attached handout for more information on ready-to-teach courses, the collaborative course design process, and why we need to list common course materials (textbooks, lab kits, etc.) for pooled course sections.
  • Registration for our first seven pilot courses starts in October.  We are grateful to be able to build upon processes developed by the CCCOnline Academic Technology to help us transition to this new model quickly.  The Pilot Implementation team led by John Schmahl is making the necessary adjustments to pooled sections in Banner to get us started and is preparing training for college schedulers in the coming weeks.
  • The IT Strategic Implementation team is already at work building out codes and processes in Banner that will provide additional functionality in future semesters, from simplifying the process of accessing rosters and submitting grades for individual sections, to capturing data that will make it easier to track enrollment and manage the financial model.
  • Coming soon…The CCCS Marketing team is developing an outward facing web site to establish a public presence for Colorado Online.  Fiona and her team are also helping us convert the Colorado Online @ Blog to a more flexible website format, making it easier for faculty and staff to find information.

As the pace of implementation accelerates for Colorado Online, we will host 30-minute Zoom meetings every two weeks from October through December.  Each of these Colorado Online Info Sessions will focus on a single topic with 15 minutes of presentation followed by 15 minutes of Q&A.  These meetings will be recorded and made available to the CCCS community on the Colorado Online@ Blog.  The next two sessions will focus on Ready-to-Teach Sections (Oct 5) and the Financial Model (Oct 19).  If you would like to attend and have not received an invitation, please contact Chin Ya Russell, Project Coordinator.

If you have any questions in the meantime, do not hesitate to contact me or Tammy Vercauteren, Project Director of Online Strategic Planning.

Sincerely,

Landon
