2023 April

Colleagues,

Thank you to everyone who taught or supported students enrolled in the Colorado Online @ Spring Pilot and to everyone who is hard at work preparing for future semesters. Your student focus, commitment, and ongoing feedback will help us continue making improvements as we bring on more courses.  Some highlights from this month include:

  • Approval of Online Success Liaisons.  At the recommendation of the Project Team and the Steering Committee, Chancellor Garcia approved dedicating two online success liaisons to help students, faculty, and staff make connections across the Colorado Online @ Consortium starting this Summer/Fall.  We will review workload each semester to determine if additional central support is needed.  In addition, each of the colleges is working to identify a Colorado Online Communication lead for their college to help facilitate communication related to Colorado Online.
  • Course Materials and Instructor Resources.  In the March project update, I shared that aself-service web formhad been created so that instructors can easily view the list of required materials for Summer 2023 and Fall 2023 pooled sections and gain copy access to optional instructor resources in D2L.  Just in time support resources in the form of a text-based job aid and video have been developed to assist faculty and instructors in using the form.  As a reminder, the course materials selections for Spring 24 pooled courses are due by May 15.  Recordings of Q&A sessions and other support resources to help in making those selections can be found on the Colorado Online @ SharePoint site.  Thanks again to the State Discipline Chairs (SDCs) for all of your work facilitating this process. The workgroup looking at training, potential stipends and other support needed for SDCs during the Colorado Online transition is on track to have initial recommendations to me in May.
  • Course Scheduling.  Everyone can access spreadsheets showing the distribution of sections to individual colleges for Summer 23, Fall 23, and Spring 24 on the Colorado Online SharePoint site.  A recording of the April 19 Info Session on Scheduling, the PowerPoint, and Q&A are all posted on the Inside Colorado Online web site. If your college or discipline has questions let us know.  We are happy to walk through specific examples with you.

To avoid finals week at many colleges, the May info sessions will be held on May 10 and May 24.  We’ll switch to once a month for June, July, and August, and then back to hosting info sessions every other Wednesday in the fall.  Don’t hesitate to contact me or Tammy Vercauteren, Project Director of Online Strategic Planning, if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Landon
